About the Mountain Lion Foundation
The Mountain Lion Foundation is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit conservation organization dedicated to ensuring that America’s mountain lions survive and flourish in the wild. Founded in 1986, the organization works to protect mountain lions and the connected landscapes they depend on through science, conservation, policy advocacy, education, and community engagement.
Our work is guided by the belief that effective wildlife conservation should be grounded in sound science, responsible stewardship, and practical coexistence. We work to advance science-based wildlife policies, protect important habitat and wildlife corridors, support research, educate the public, and help communities find effective ways to live safely alongside mountain lions.
The Mountain Lion Foundation recognizes that protecting mountain lions means protecting much more than a single species. Healthy, connected landscapes benefit mountain lions, other wildlife, ecosystems, and the communities that share these environments.
