How HiringAnt uses AI to screen applications
Last updated: 6 September 2026
Applications on HiringAnt are screened with AI against the job description. The employer makes the final decision, and you can ask the employer for a human review.
That sentence also appears in the product and at the foot of every shortlist and rejection email we send. This page is the longer version.
1. What is used
Two things: the résumé you uploaded and the job description of the job you applied to. Nothing from outside your own application is added. Your résumé is used as you wrote it — we do not rewrite or redact it first.
Both are processed by a third-party AI provider that is not permitted to train on your content; retention and your rights over that data are covered by our Privacy Policy.
2. What the AI does, and what it does not
It reads those two documents and produces an assessment of the fit, for the employer to read.
It does not make the hiring decision. Shortlisting, interviewing, rejecting and hiring are the employer's actions, and they can change any outcome, in either direction, at any point. It does not decide who is worth hiring in general — it looks at one application against one job.
3. What you see
Your application's status, and the fact that AI screening was used.
You never see the score. No candidate does. A number with no context reads as a verdict on a person; it is a ranking signal for one job, and it is the employer's to interpret.
Practice interviews are never part of this. If you use HiringAnt's practice interviews, no employer sees that you did, or how it went. That is a guarantee in the product, not a setting.
4. Asking for a human review
You can ask, and asking costs you nothing.
- Reply to the email. Shortlist and rejection mail threads back to the employer's hiring team, so a reply reaches the people who can act on it.
- If there is no email to reply to, contact the employer through whatever channel their posting gives.
- If the problem is with HiringAnt rather than with the employer — your résumé did not parse, your status looks wrong — write to [email protected] and say which job and which application.
We cannot make an employer reconsider you. We can make sure a person, not a score, is the last thing between you and their decision.
5. Bias auditing — not done
HiringAnt has not had a bias audit. No independent audit has been commissioned, performed or published, and nothing on this page, in the product or in our marketing should be read as claiming otherwise.
A real one needs demographic data we do not collect, an independent auditor, and published findings. This is a statement of the gap, not a plan with dates.
