Position Summary

Rentprompts is seeking a Script Writer to craft scroll-stopping hooks and scripts for short-form and long-form video content. This role translates raw ideas, briefs, and trending formats into structured, engaging scripts that the Social Media Content Creator shoots and the Video Editor brings to life. The ideal candidate thinks in hooks, pacing, and payoff, and can write confidently across multiple tones and formats.

Key Responsibilities

Scriptwriting & Concept Development

• Write scripts, hooks, and outlines for short-form (Reels/TikTok/Shorts) and long-form video content.

• Develop multiple hook variations per concept for testing.

• Translate raw ideas, briefs, or trending formats into structured, shootable scripts.

• Write consistently in the brand's established tone of voice across formats.

Research & Ideation

• Research trending topics, formats, and competitor content for inspiration.

• Collaborate with the Content Creator on upcoming content pillars and themes.

• Maintain a running bank of script ideas, hooks, and CTAs.

• Stay current on storytelling trends across TikTok, Reels, and YouTube Shorts.

Collaboration & Revision

• Partner with the Content Creator to align scripts with what's realistically shootable.

• Incorporate stakeholder feedback and revise scripts efficiently.

• Support the Video Editor with pacing notes, on-screen text cues, and structure.

• Actively participate in brainstorm and ideation sessions.

Documentation & Process

• Maintain organized script documents and briefs (Google Docs, Notion, etc.) per content piece.

• Track script status — draft, approved, in production, published.

• Build and maintain reusable script templates for recurring content series.

• Log which hooks and formats perform well for future reference.

Quality & Brand Voice

• Ensure grammar, clarity, and pacing meet a consistently high bar.

• Fact-check claims and statistics referenced in scripts.

• Maintain consistency in brand voice and messaging across all content.

• Flag legal or compliance-sensitive claims for review before production.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience writing for video, social media, or content marketing.

• Strong grasp of short-form video structure (hook - body - payoff/CTA) and pacing.

• A portfolio of previous scripts, published video content, or writing samples.

• Excellent grammar, storytelling, and self-editing skills.

• Ability to write in multiple tones and voices depending on brand, platform, or format.

• Comfortable receiving and incorporating feedback quickly, on tight timelines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience writing scripts specifically for YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram.

• Background in copywriting, journalism, comedy writing, or content marketing.

• Familiarity with basic SEO/keyword practices for YouTube titles and descriptions.

• Experience collaborating with a video editor or production team.

Technical Skills & Tools

• Google Docs / Notion — required

• Working understanding of video production and editing terminology — required

• SEO/keyword research tools (e.g., TubeBuddy, VidIQ) — preferred

• AI writing/research tools, used responsibly for ideation — preferred

Key Performance Expectations

• Deliver scripts on schedule per the agreed content calendar.

• Maintain a high first-draft approval rate with minimal revision rounds.

• Proactively contribute fresh concepts and hooks, not only on request.

• Ensure scripts translate into content that meets engagement benchmarks.

• Keep script documentation organized, current, and easy to hand off.

Compensation & Payout

• 10,000 - 12,000 per month, based on experience and qualifications.

• Remote, full-time role — global candidates welcome.

• Payout is benchmarked against current global remote market data; final offer may be adjusted for candidate location and cost of living.

The ideal candidate is a writer who thinks in hooks and pacing, and is genuinely curious about what makes people stop scrolling and keep watching. A background as a Social Media Copywriter, Content Writer, Video Scriptwriter, or Content Strategist would translate well into this role. They should be fast, collaborative, and comfortable working closely with a Content Creator and Video Editor to ship content on a recurring schedule.
